The Sea Salt and Mineral Company

In 2012, Oregon‑born founder Michal Bietz moved with her Norwegian husband and their children to an island off Norway’s west coast that his family has called home for generations. Inspired by the purity of the ocean and the tidal rhythms that shaped their days, she began making sea salt in her kitchen. Early batches quickly caught the attention of Nordic chefs, leading her to found a modern saltworks. Since 2014, she has supplied retailers, artisan producers, and Michelin‑starred chefs across Europe and the United States, earning a reputation for purity, traceability, and consistency.

…and the dream lives on

The founders lost control of Havsnø, the sea salt company, during the pandemic, but Michal still ran production to ensure the quelity of the salt produced. Now, the newowners have decided to shut the factory down, but the dream still lives on and we are working to raise capital and find a new home for a new salt factory. Keep posted.
